{"id":311,"date":"2010-03-06T09:32:47","date_gmt":"2010-03-06T16:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ryanandjuliet.com\/blog\/?p=311"},"modified":"2010-03-06T09:36:08","modified_gmt":"2010-03-06T16:36:08","slug":"the-song-of-the-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ryanandjuliet.com\/blog\/2010\/03\/06\/the-song-of-the-day\/","title":{"rendered":"The song of the day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-314\" title=\"P1020243-1\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ryanandjuliet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/P1020243-1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"P1020243-1\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ryanandjuliet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/P1020243-1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.ryanandjuliet.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/03\/P1020243-1-768x1024.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>Over the last month feeding Ryan has become a bit of a challenge.\u00c2\u00a0 He wiggles and squiggles.\u00c2\u00a0 He pushes, no, whacks the bottle away.\u00c2\u00a0 He turns his head to where it&#8217;s impossible for us to follow with the bottle.\u00c2\u00a0 Very quickly it became clear that a change was in order.<\/p>\n<p>For Ryan&#8217;s first 2-3 months he had problems eating due to his reflux.\u00c2\u00a0 It was heart breaking because I knew he wanted the food but it hurt him to eat it.\u00c2\u00a0 We got him started on reflux medication and he got much better.\u00c2\u00a0 Then about a month ago, he turned into Mr. Wiggles again while feeding him.\u00c2\u00a0 We tried all the tricks up our sleeves and the only thing that seemed to work was singing.\u00c2\u00a0 But, and this is a major but, we had to find the RIGHT song to sing in order to make him happy enough to eat.<\/p>\n<p>After we discovered the singing cure, he was set on The Itsy Bitsy Spider.\u00c2\u00a0 Dan would begin by saying &#8220;Introducing the song of the day, The Itsy Bitsy Spider!&#8221; then he would proceed to sing it over and over and over again (with an intermission for burps).\u00c2\u00a0 Soon, however, Ryan got bored of the Itsy Bitsy Spider but seemed happy with You Are My Sunshine.\u00c2\u00a0 Then there was I&#8217;m A Little Teapot and B-I-N-G-O and Do Your Ears Hang Low and A Tisket A Tasket and Mary Had A Little Lamb and Old McDonald.\u00c2\u00a0 With Old McDonald he only liked the first part of the song and not the part where you pick an animal and sing its sound.\u00c2\u00a0 So we would sing &#8220;Old McDonald had a farm, E-I-E-I-O&#8221; over and over and over again.<\/p>\n<p>Anyhow, everyday we go through our repertoire of songs until we find the Song of the Day for Ryan.\u00c2\u00a0 I think we&#8217;re running out of songs to try&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Oh, but we love Ryan so so much and this is just the tip of the iceberg of the things we would do to make him happy.\u00c2\u00a0 So bring it on boy, we&#8217;re ready!\u00c2\u00a0<em> (I think? :-\/)<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Over the last month feeding Ryan has become a bit of a challenge.\u00c2\u00a0 He wiggles and squiggles.\u00c2\u00a0 He pushes, no, whacks the bottle away.\u00c2\u00a0 He turns his head to where it&#8217;s impossible for us to follow with the bottle.\u00c2\u00a0 Very quickly it became clear that a change was in order.
